To the editor:
After picking up Sonic and McDonald's trash for the third time this week, I must say that the introduction of fast food outlets in Baldwin City was a bad, bad, bad idea.

To the editor:
On behalf of the 2008 After Prom Committee, we would like to say a huge thank you to all of the businesses and individuals that donated merchandise, food and money to help make After Prom such a fun evening for our Baldwin High School students.
We appreciate all those "kids" who entertained us while shooting three-point shots at the basketball games and those individuals who funded them. We couldn't do it without the parents who contacted businesses, picked up prizes and food, and helped with all of the responsibilities at the bowling alley.
It is wonderful to be a part of a community that supports its young people and makes an event like this possible. Thank you, Baldwin City.

To the editor:
On behalf of the Baldwin Education Foundation Board of Trustees, I would like to thank our community for their wonderful support of our Second Annual State of the District Breakfast. The breakfast was a terrific success with more in attendance and raising more funds than ever. The more than $4,000 raised from the breakfast will help fund our Innovative Project Grants to be awarded in September.
Additionally, because of the on-going generosity of our community and alumni, we were able to make $5,600 in "Education Excellence" grants to our district schools. The schools have quickly put those dollars to work many using the funds for new technology.
We had tremendous support from our table sponsors: Mid-America Bank, Baldwin State Bank, KU Credit Union, Baker University School of Education, Brier Payne Meade Insurance, Baldwin City Lions Club, DLR Group Architects/Engineers, Baker University and Tony Brown.
Finally a special thank you to Baker University, we are truly lucky to have them as a community partner. Their overwhelming generosity enables our event to be even better.
Together we are making a difference in the lives of the students in our school district. Our sincere thanks for your continued support.
